Gotta Be Sometime

One always has to happen sometime — the moment of truth when you know death here is and anything could happen.. I fell at 2 am on two nights and lay on the cold floor trying to think how to get help. For the first two I lay on floor 2 hours until I could wiggle over on my stomach. When I called emergency, a cop came to get me off the floor and then the Valier EMT. I refused the ambulancethe second time and the third time but the fourth time I gave up. In the ER they took a test, declared I had high blood pressure, way too low potassium, and an infection. IV for blood pressure was a snap. Potassium burned like hell. Too low is life-threatening.

For the next few days I had test after test, always told that then I could go home — IF I could my own ride home (30 miles) I couldn’t find one. Finally today one was found. Just after they think found my lung cancer. Maybe. Everyone thinks they can help by jabbering. They can’t believe that I’m trying to remember the order of the Chinese dynasties because why would it matter?
