I’m going to get myself in possible trouble by talking about the close relationship between war and art, and between war and Western art in particular. The next step is to gay wealth through presentation — the galleries, curators, aficionadoes. Often a cover for resource monopolies. Nothing to do with the runty cast-offs who actually herded cows. And then the revelations about the reality of Zane Grey, Ernest Haycock, et al in books that no one bought and read. Reality had nothing to do with it. It’s a form of Romanticism.
