My “magic trinity” of thinking about people is “Attachment, Arousal, and Intimacy.” That is, the kid at first gets attached to mom (who may be male), then later gets excited by reminders and rhymes with that, and wants to get closer.) Does anyone write about the Arousal of wearing tactical gear? So many kids like camo — is that claiming warriors? The eroticism of Ninjas? The Japanese are more explicit with this, like the samurai movies with female warriors and swords.
