The Rule of Law versus Justice has always been controversial since the Rule of Law depends on who makes the laws and whether they are obeyed. What the relevant culture thinks is Justice can vary from time to time and place to place. At once time Justice and Rule of Law both agreed on dunking witches or burning heretics.

The controversy is always complicated by the tension between individual and society which gives rise to many stories that attempt to resolve the problem, which is very arousing, often leading to riots and war.

Now everything is even more acute because of vengeance. So much loss means vengeance.
