When Leslie Fiedler left being a professor at the U of Montana in Missoula, he sold his house to the Unitarians to irritate everyone. The UU's still have it. I don't know any writing about Fiedler though there must be some. More to it than sexuality -- it's being fluid and obstinate in several realms. Same for Sam Clemens. It seems to me that "gay" is a troublesome category that is often confining. I don't suppose everyone "gay" has a limp wrist and wears lavender.
